Moxie provides play-based learning that is paced to weekly themes and missions with content designed to promote social, emotional, and cognitive learning. Each week a different theme such as kindness, friendship, empathy, or respect tasks children with missions to help Moxie explore human experiences, ideas, and life skills. Missions foster discussion and curiosity and encourage the child to discover the world and people around them. Their role as a mentor to Moxie will help build self-confidence and allow them to solidify the social and emotional skills they are learning. Other play-based learning activities include:
- Affirmations: Moxie encourages the child to repeat positive affirmations to build self-confidence.
- Animal Breathing: Moxie helps children learn and practice breathing techniques in a fun and engaging way.
- Body Scan: A relaxing mindfulness activity to help children recognize how their body is feeling.
- Brain Twisters: Moxie presents fun and tricky riddles for the child to solve.
- Composing: Mentors help Moxie create a new song for the G.R.L. orchestra.
- Dancing: Children can have a dance party with Moxie! The child can choose to do different dances with Moxie based on the personalities of G.R.L. characters.
- Drawing: Moxie encourages creativity and imagination building by helping the child decide on a subject to draw and providing an atmosphere of encouragement for the drawing.
- Fun Facts: Moxie shares different fun facts about a variety of topics.
- Imagine a Place: A mindfulness activity where the child imagines a place that makes them feel happy and calm.
- Jokes: Moxie tells funny jokes, and the child can also tell Moxie their own jokes!
- Jukebox: Moxie plays music from the G.R.L. for the child to enjoy.
- Meditation Journey: A mindfulness exercise that takes the child on a relaxing journey through the mind.
- Mindful Shapes: Moxie teaches the child a meditative breathing technique using different shapes.
- Mini-Missions: Provides an activity for the child to do when not playing with Moxie, often with a friend or family member to encourage social skills.
- Moxie Chat: Moxie engages the child in open conversations about a variety of topics such as Animals, Colors, Food, Space, or Robots.
- Name that Feeling: To help with emotion recognition, Moxie presents a series of facial expressions and the child must guess which emotion describes the expression.
- Password Game: A game where Moxie offers clues for the child to guess a secret word.
- Picture Pose: Moxie poses so the child can take a selfie with Moxie!
- Reading: Children can build confidence in verbalization by reading any book to Moxie, while Moxie enhances the experience by playing thematic music and sound effects.
- Scavenger Hunt: Moxie sends the child on a scavenger hunt to find random objects in their home.
- Simon Says: Children can play the classic game of Simon Says with Moxie!
- Stories from Moxie: Moxie tells engaging SEL-themed stories involving characters from the G.R.L.
- Tell Moxie a Story: A fun creative exercise where children can make up a story to tell Moxie, fostering imagination and original thinking.
- This Day in History: Moxie tells the child an interesting thing that happened in history based on the calendar day on which they are interacting.
- Wild Workout: A fun exercise activity where Moxie guides the mentor through imaginary adventures to different parts of the world.
